About

I grew up small town, in Southwestern North Dakota. This upbringing, in the plains surrounding me, has lead to a passion in documenting what happens and what is experienced on the plains. This practice of detailed documenting has carried over into most of my works. I am an artist who works in the primary medium of photography.

During my academic years, I studied briefly in New York, New York and Spearfish, South Dakota. Most of my photographic studies took place at Minnesota State University Moorhead where I received my Bachelor in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Photography. I later returned to pursue a Bachelor of Art Education. Realizing my passion for art, especially photography, I leaned into the tuition telling me to teach.

I am somewhat of an introvert. Having a camera in my hand gives me confidence to break free of this. Seeing through the viewfinder rids me of any insecurities I may be facing. I like to get to know my subjects, be it places, people, animals…to get a more raw connection. The journey is sometimes just as worthy as the outcome.
